Subject: Updates and Good News
Good Afternoon,
I have some good news and other updates from the Town regarding Mount Sinai Harbor and Ceder Beach.
The Mount Sinai Marina will open this Saturday. This is really great news and the Town accomplished this while working under mandatory 50% staff reductions. I know that the Town Councilwoman and the Parks Department had this high on their priority list and I hope that Marina slip holders will be happy and appreciative of their efforts.
Security- The Town has hired additional security to circulate and ensure that people are adhering to social distancing regulations. As a reminder, you should only be boating with people who live in the same household. Please review the attached image for more information on social distancing while boating.
Dinghy Docks & Kayak/Dinghy Racks- The Town of Brookhaven Parks Department has issued a mailing to those residents holding a 2019 Dinghy Dock or Rack outlining the deadline and procedure for securing their same slips. The deadline to respond to this letter is May 10th. After this deadline, slips will be made available to the general public. If you have a 2019 Dinghy Dock that you would like to secure for this season, please respond to the Parks Department mailing as soon as possible. Please call the Parks Department should for more information at 631-451-6100 or visit https://www.brookhavenny.gov/903/Dinghy-Docks
On a personal note, I am very happy that we as Town residents will be able to use the Mount Sinai/ Ceder Beach Complex during this time of crisis. I think that it will be a good outlet for many of us and I am grateful to the Town for making this all work. With that being said, please adhere to strict social distancing guidelines. Do not hang out on the dock. Do not have dock parties. Do not congregate in groups. In other areas you have seen governments open up public spaces only to have them shut down again when people did not respect social distancing. Please do not jeopardize our ability to use the harbor and beach.
