live bait
Well-Known Angler
Decided to give the Tog fishing a break & head back to sea bass. Took advantage of a break in the wind, yesterday, but not the cold temperature, 27 degrees when I headed out in the morning, across the Peconic, through the canal lock & Shinnecock bay to the inlet. Ran south from the inlet to about 100' & a piece of good bottom. Action as soon as the bait hit the bottom, & in less that 1/2hr had 5 big knot head sea bass on ice, then a short lull & then the dog fish moved in. Moved a few times, nothing but dog fish, changed from bait to a jig & the dogs loved it. Went to a local wreck & found more dog fish. Didn't look like anything else would find my offerings, so time to call it a morning & make the trip back north. Cold temps, but a sunny day with little wind & a flat ocean, a good day on the water.
