Black or grey Tog reel

Hello, while I do have several Tog reels both Silver and blue I was looking to add a black or grey tog reel for a sexy custom rod I have that is a black, grey and lime. Looking to go low profile but doesnt have to be. Thinking of the Lexa or a beefier Abu. Not a necessity I can use a reel I have now but will probably wait till the fishing shows in March to get one. But if something good comes along now I'd get it. Any other suggestions out there? Thanks

Yes, of course! The Okuma Komodo SS is a killer reel, with stainless steel gearing, no less.

For those that think the world will end if they try to fish with a double handle, there's all sorts of aftermarket "power" handles that will most likely fit it. I'm not a fan of 6.4:1 as a tog retrieve ratio, but for most users - well, they'll never notice it. The heavy-duty SS gears are not cheap to manufacture, hence the $250+ category.

For those that are looking for something more "budget friendly," believe it or not, the Piscifun Alijos gets mad good reviews all over the Interwebs. For under $100 (if you shop wisely - think Amazon or AliExpress, when either of them run one of their Holiday sales, these reels can be had for under $80). They are available with and without a "power handle," in all kinds of gear ratios, from 5.9:1 all the way up to 8:1. Full Aluminum frame, big-ass brass gearing - this is what I would buy, if I didn't LOVE my Daiwa Pluton for this app. A WAAAY different price point for the Pluton though, so there's that.

Here's the factory page for your review:

Put "Piscifun Alijos" into the YouTube search engine and be prepared for about 20 decent videos. That fella Todd Mann "LongIsland Lethals" on YT raves about this reel - and he ain't wrong. Its an outstanding reel for the modest asking price.

Just have to get past the dopey company name and you're good to go.

Of course there's always the various Daiwa Lexa reels to choose from, pretty much all with a gray paint scheme. No need to cover them here - nearly everybody's got one of those reels nowadays days. Except me, it seems.

One last reel. The Abu Revo Toro Beast is a matte gray reel, is built like a tank, and is available with a tog-killing 4.9:1 gear ratio. It ain't cheap at $329 list, but its as solid as one can get in a big low-pro. Sourcing a power handle would be no problem for this one. In fact I believe it comes with one in the box. I’d check that though.

If "sexy" is the goal, those clearly fit the bill. (y)
Personally, I'm not a fan of a double handle and switch out to a single power handle

Thanks for all the info on this Pete. I will check out the Komodo as well as the Lexa and Abu. Not digging the gold and grey combo of the Pacifsun. Here's the custom.

That’s a flashy stick you got there, sweet!
What is the blank and did you build it

Thanks it was built by Capt. Richie over at Atlantic Rods in Bellmore. Does excellent work. The blank is a United Composite Swimbait has an excellent moderate bend. Great blank for ocean fluking and inshore blackfish.

On an Amazon whim, I picked up one of those Piscifun 300…black and red, power handle and 5.9 gearing…$80. I mated it to a 6’6” Ugly Stick Intercoastal Medium and went exploring on Sunday am.
The rod/reel had absolutely no problem whipping a 25 inch tog on Sunday…massive male that surprised us. Wish I had a scale, but had to be a double digit tog that was released.
