Headed to Rye late on Sunday. Only got there around 11:30. tried my usual spots. Immediately into short fish, biggest was about 15. Burning thru bait fast. Explored a bit and struck out . Headed back to my original spot around was back into fish. While my sinker was hung up on the bottom I hook what felt like a very sizeable fish. Couldn't break the sinker off. Tried giving slack to see if the fish would get it free. After a while the fish was off. Headed back across at about 4 and on the way into Oyster Bay there was a small fleet working the cove where schoolie bass were gorging on small bunker. Landed 1 and headed home as the sun disappeared behind the horizon. Water is too warm IMO but seems some guys are finding some keepers and big fish. Hopefully I can get out a few more times this year. Weekends are going by way to quick.
