Boat Rage - like you have never seen!

I heard stories about the that Captain, which included shooting at other boats. Not sure how much I heard it true. I also heard some guys found him later and let their feeling known. You never know how much is true and what was from someones imagination.
Definitely not wrapped to tight, had words with him a few times. Love nothing more than fall blackfish and be dead center of one of his drops

Hard for anyone who is reflecting on this to say what they would have done, easy for me to say he would have been wearing my gaff, but in reality I think as he was stepping onto my boat, a little blip of the throttle & he would have been swimming
Yes, it would have ended much differently from this story. A bit of a coward picking on a kid.

I don't think it needs a new thread. But the Captain of the James Joseph.... I heard many stories.
Things like if your in 'his" spot he get his boat and push you out of the way. I have even heard stories he shot at people.
What do you personally know as truth and what is people making a good story? I can't imagine most being true. Especially with cell phone documentation. People would sue for damage if he took his boat and rammed you out of the way. Shooting at a boat would probably wind him in jail.

Most in the Huntington area are familiar with his reputation. I have never had a problem with him, but many of my friends have. Tog season brings the most trouble. We pass each other in the inlet often, and I will get an occasional nod. I have drifted near him while fluking hundreds of times over the years with no issues. Those that get too close will get an earfull. Although X rated, the banter between him and the other fish heads on channel 65 can be quite entertaining at times. Also, if you pay attention and know the lingo you will get an occasional tip.

So what (I think) your saying is the stories are just that.

Forget about filming….he would have been tripped up in lines and keel hauled for at least 10 minutes with an attempt to recover him. Then call coast guard.

You know you've got problems when you get an action figure...

This is my last post on the subject and there is no need to start a new thread.

@holty I have been covering the fishing scene in the Sound for close to 40 years, and I can say with certainty and firsthand experience that the stories are true. You have not even heard the half of it.

@OVERBORED Picture being out on the water in an 18-foot center console when he comes steaming up on you, demands you leave “his” spot, and when you refuse, he drops anchor just yards from your boat. He starts cursing, throwing sinkers, and threatening your life while you are just trying to enjoy a day on the water. That happened to me. I called the Coast Guard and they made me move. This happened before I got into the business.

I will close with this. He once left a message on my office phone, which at the time was the same line my brother had used before he passed away from cancer at just 46 years old. He never liked us because we refused to take his advertising or allow him to post fishing reports on Noreast. The message he left said, “I’m glad to see that God got my message and took your brother. You will be next.”

All facts.

hey what da hell, it’s not too bad…

what’s really bad is fighting for a parking spot in front of church on a Sunday morning in a Italian Brooklyn neighborhood, cuss words too… cell…

I know you said it was your last post. But the fact that you called the Coast Guard and they MADE YOU MOVE is just amazing to me. What was their reasoning for making you move?

Is this guy Irish mob ? I am sure that yours was one of dozens if not hundreds of complaints. I have never been on a party boat and never fished the north shore but I have been hearing about him for decades, since the other website. Gotta be connected. Fuhgettaboudit.

Connected to what?

JJ aside, I've seen my share of things on the water and what he does is alot of barking at other boats as well as his own customers. The problems start when customers think they can throw sinkers, crabs or Cast into your in boat. Then it can get out of control.

The only rage I've seen on the water is when somebody goes thru somebodies chum slick. Even in Jones Inlet on a crowded summer day, most people are just chilling and relaxing and not angry out there. And Capt. Al in Freeport was the king of rage. Go across his chum slick or get too close to his fares, he'd come out like a madman ready to kill you.

Seems Captain Horner has gotten a few more charges levied after his original arrest.

"The FWC said their investigation also revealed more about a separate March 29 charter fishing trip operated under Horner’s business, Tarpon Coast Fishing Charters. FWC said they found Horner was operating without a valid saltwater charter license and using an improperly registered vessel."

I'm guessing he wishes he would have stayed home that day.
