Boat Ride To Shinnecock

Got an early start this morning, quick 4 mile ride across the peconic, through the Shinnecock Canal, across the bay & out the Shinnecock Inlet to look for the bunker pods & scare up a bass. Was met with fog, but crossing the peconic wasn't bad , got to the jetties that lead to the canal, solid wall of fog. Waited for that to lift a little & made it through the canal, got into Shinnecock bay & more solid fog, couldn't see the bouys, but slowly got through following the chart plotter. Got to the inlet, & it was a lot rougher than expected, looked at it for a while & made a run through to the ocean which wasn't good. Got out to about 40/50' & the rollers were starting to break, not only am I not going to be able to spot bunker, but now concerned about getting back through the inlet. Back through the inlet, which makes me pucker on a good day, backtrack through the bay, canal, & the Peconic, never wet a line & home by 9. Don't know where the big ocean came from, but all that matters is back on the trailer & home.

Sorry to hear it didn’t pan out

Back in the day fished with a guy, who after a not so good outing, he would say " at least they didn't get any of us". That's the way I still look at it.

Glad you made it back safe and puckered up. You made my day saying the ocean conditions weren't good as I fought with the urge to go out and decided to stay on land. Tomorrow is another day.
