Braided line suggestions

I go ground fishing in an area that could mean a hookup with a bluefin tuna. I need some time to fireup the boat and chase the sucker before it strips me so the smaller diameter of braid vs. backing, gives me more of a safety net.

Makes perfect sense, thank you!

China, I usually bring the reel im having spooled get my suffix 832 there and have them spool it. Ive never been charges extra for spooling when i purchased it there. I would watch what they are putting on your reel some stuff is not that great. I use suffix 832 just like the way it feels and keeps knots. You can look back on the topic and see what other guys use.

I do a lot of Surf Casting and Top Water plugging in the bay. For those activities the PP Super Slick 8 is by far the best as I casts unbelievable smooth and delivers much better distance where that matter most, on the beach.
I have used the super slick on my lightweight flying gear and had no issues, and actually it helps if you like to cast “upside” when jiggging

For heavier jigging, bait fishing or trolling mojo’s it’s all Suffix 832

Backing,? gave it up some time ago after getting a couple of "thumb burns" and almost having heart attack when the white backing was in view.. the 300 / 330 yards spool is a little less $$$ than 2- 150 yard spool. cellfish...

.not da best picture, but ya get the idea,!

Glad I finally found this site. Thanks Canyonfvr.
How often do you guys replace your braid? I'm a cheap bastard, so I wait until the end portion starts to look frayed, then cut it back to the less-used fresher looking portion; repeat.
My understanding and experience is mono can get dried out over time, but I did not think that was a problem with braid.
Any thoughts?
BTW, I got a Berkley reel spooling holder as a gift some years ago. It makes re-spooling a breeze and I don't have to trail the line behind the boat to straighten it out and level the reel any more.

Yes Matt’s. Both lines are good for different styles of fishing, ex: since I beach fish only, I’ve learned to check my line when it’s in question, which is often... I usually tie off to a stationary weight, pull out 100 feet or so and pull back on the rod,, give it a heavy grunt and if the line holds, ya good to go,, tight lines as they say... cellfish...
