The Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve is a no-age statement Scotch single malt which is finished in ex-Caribbean rum barrels sourced from Jamaica. It is bottled at 40% ABV and is available as of April 2020.

TASTING NOTES

"The rum barrel finishing definitely makes a presence on the nose, but it's more of a background note than hitting you on the fore. Malty notes play well with the orange, coconut, and a slight char smoke. On the palate, the body is medium full and oily. Fruity and sweet with that rum back note, the finish is a bit on the short side. But while Caribbean Reserve is present, it's pleasant. Try this in a Whisky Sour. "

excellent stuff

went to Maurice's last night for dinner - after a very satisfying meal I was offered a smoked whiskey (actually scotch - I asked for JW Black...

Never had one before - to be honest I never even heard of smoking whiskey. I was outstanding. Gave it a very smooth & smoky flavor. He did at the bar right in front of me.

This gives you an idea of what he did. Didn't add all of these ingredients (or the money)just the scotch but it gives you an idea of what he did. It remained under glass dome for about 3 or 4 minutes before serving.
