Buoys and launching points for the Sound

Looking to try some new (to me) areas. I get the Town of Brookhaven sticker and usually leave from the Mount Sinai ramp.

If I want to fish buoy 11 I can leave from the Port Jeff ramp.

If I want to fish buoy 9, I can leave from Mount Sinai ramp.

Any spots that anyone can launch from to get to Buoy 7?? It would have to be either a ramp all can use, one that takes the Town of Brookhaven sticker or one for use for a reasonable fee. I have done that run with my boat. But it takes some time and burns gas. Trailering to ramp that may be closer is preferable.

Any spots that anyone can launch from to get to Buoy 5?? For Buoy 5 I was thinking there is a ramp close to Mattituck where Celtic Quest is. But is there another ramp all can use, one that takes the Town of Brookhaven sticker or one for use for a reasonable fee.

Any help appreciated.

State Ramp in Mattituck for Buoy 5 and probably 7

I always used Mt. Sinai for 9 & 11, hated the limited parking and zoo of lower Port Jeff.

Buoy 7, launch in Mt. Sinai and just suck up the extra gas or launch in Mattituck, check your chart. I'm pretty sure it's a hair closer to Mattituck than Mt. Sinai.

There's absolutely nothing between Mt. Sinai and Mattituck, and you're lucky. Back in my day there was nothing in Mattituck but a town ramp all the way up by Sound Avenue.

You can reach both B11 or B9 from either Port Jefferson or Mt. Sinai ramps.

B 7 is a bit of a ride from both ramps. Obviously Mt. Sinai is a little closer.

My boat runs at about 15 to 20 MPH. It is about a 25 min run to B 9. form PJ.

There is a Town of Riverhead ramp on the east side of the old Shoreham power plant.

The ramp is fine but the creek is very shallow. It is the old wading river creek that empties into Long Island

Been fishing the area for over 30 years. PM me with any questions

Thanks!

7 is a bit of a haul for Mount Sinai. I have done it once. I may look to stay in my "backyard" ( B11 or B9) and look for new spots.

I did fish the Mattituck area and did OK. I guess Celtic Quest goes there for a reason. State Ramp in Mattituck seems like a possibllity, I may trailer to it and then explore the area.
