**Overall Conditions:** The harbor is quiet, but don't let that fool you. The fish are still here, you just have to know where to look. The water is cold, so the bite is subtle, but for the persistent angler, there are still rewards to be had.

**Striped Bass:** The holdover striped bass are the main game in town. The action is concentrated in the deeper holes and channels where the water is a bit warmer. The East River is holding fish, as are the areas around the bridges and piers. Small soft plastics and jigs are the ticket, fished slowly along the bottom. The bite is best during the moving tides, so plan your trips accordingly.

**Blackfish (Tog):** The tog bite has been decent on the local reefs and wrecks. The fish are in their winter haunts, so you'll need to find the hard bottom to find the fish. The bite is not as fast and furious as it was a few weeks ago, but there are still some quality fish to be had.

**Herring:** The herring are in, and they are providing some fun action for those looking for a change of pace. They can be found around the piers and bridges, and a Sabiki rig is all you need to get in on the action.

**Tactical Recommendations:** Dress warm and be prepared for a slow day. The fish are not as aggressive in the cold water, so you'll need to be patient and work your lures slowly. Focus on the deeper water and the areas with the most current. And as always, be respectful of your fellow anglers and the resource.
