What a week in the harbor, folks. The bass are here, and they are hungry. We're seeing a great mix of sizes, from schoolies all the way up to some real bruisers. The water is still holding some warmth, and the fish are taking advantage of it.

The bait situation is looking good. We've got sand eels and peanut bunker all over the place, which is keeping the bass active. The fly guys are having a field day with 7-inch Sand Eel Candy patterns, and the spin guys are doing just as well with small jigs and soft plastics.

I've been spending most of my time around the local bridges and they have been producing consistently. The key is to find the moving water and you'll find the fish. The East River has been a real highway for stripers, with fish moving between the harbor and the Sound. I'm hearing good things from the guys fishing around Battery Park as well.

This is the time of year to be out on the water. The fishing is great, the city skyline is the best backdrop you could ask for, and the crowds are starting to thin out. So grab your gear, get out there, and make some memories.
