Alright, listen up. The fall run is here, and the harbor is alive with fish. I've been fishing these waters for over 40 years, and let me tell you, this is the time of year we live for. The bait is thick, and the bass are hungry. Here's the scoop from the Battery up to Haverstraw.
**The Bite**
The fall run is in full swing, thanks to the arrival of a massive amount of sand eels and peanut bunker. From Breezy Point all the way up the Hudson, schools of fish are blowing up on bait. In Jamaica Bay, the schoolies and slots are keyed in on the peanut bunker. It's a beautiful thing to see.
**The Gear**
My go-to this week has been a Daiwa SP Minnow in a sand eel pattern. It's been deadly. If you're a fly guy, an olive and white sand eel candy will get the job done. Don't overthink it. Match the hatch, and you'll be in business.
**The Spots**
Look for the birds, and you'll find the fish. The action has been widespread, so you don't have to travel far. The usual spots around the bridges and piers are producing, but the fish are on the move, so be prepared to cover some water.
