Captain's Table Afternoon Bass

May has been an incredibly busy month for me with way too many home-based chores, out of town consulting jobs, and running trips on the Orient Star. However, I do find the time to sneak in a little fishing on my own on occasion.

Case in point, this past Thursday. I ran a half day trip on the Orient Star and saw the wind and tide situation was to be ideal for a late afternoon trip to the Gut. This season I have been blessed with an excellent mate working with me on the Star, a real enthusiastic college kid with great skills!

We spent only 90 minutes from 4:30-6 pm dragging the 3-way rigs and managed 3 very large Blues plus a dozen Bass including 4 slot sized fish. Largest 2 were 33-34” and nice and fat. I had to show him what color combination was the hot one but he is a quick learner!:)

June will be another crazy month but, weather permitting, I have many charters on the books and plan to make a lot of fishermen very happy!
Hope to see you out there.
