Captain's Table Back to Back Charters

Following a slow, very foggy start to this past week the weather took a turn for the fabulous on the weekend and my 2 charters run on Sunday and Monday took full advantage of the excellent
Tog bite.

Yesterday found Matt and his 2 buddies join me for a day of non-stop Blackfish action. First drop on the reliable CT reef yielded constant action for the last 90 minutes of ebb. Despite doing a lot of sorting the crew put 11 nice keepers in the box to 4# in almost summer like conditions. Next stop was one of my favorite jig spots near Fishers and once again we found the Tog hungry and waiting. The final boat limit keeper was landed in short order and the guys had a great time playing C&R for about 2 hours on the light tackle. Several more keepers were released and Bruce took top fish honors with a nice fat Tog that tipped the scales at just under 7#. As is often the case at least one or two other really good fish were lost during some spirited battles that found the Blackfish finally gain their freedom by breaking leaders or hiding in their favorite rock pile.

Today the Sal party of 4 climbed aboard for pretty much a repeat performance of Sunday’s results on the same two drops. This time the reef gave up a few more keepers with the larger crew plus Sal boated the day’s best fish here with a sweet 6# beauty. On the Fishers jigging grounds we easily filled out the boat limit with more smiles, bent spinning rods, and singing drags. Once again, we returned several nice keepers after limiting and, as usual, there was one real beast that just kept stripping drag on Frank’s spinning outfit and ultimately gained its freedom on the very rocky patches below the boat.

I sure hope the nice weather pattern holds up for the balance of the week as I am booked every day from this coming Wednesday through Sunday. As long as “Mother Nature” allows, I am confident there will be many more smiling anglers aboard the ‘Captain’s Table” as the North Fork Tog continue to please all anglers!
