Captain's Table - Montauk this week

so you are jealous of com size limit ? or the ASMFC conservation equivalency which has lead to 61% of recreational landings being catch and release mortality there numbers not mine i only wonder what it is in NY with 16 inch size limit commercial fisherman and rec fisherman should come together to try to improve fishing so both industries will prosper not fight so govt gets in middle does a horrible job and two sides fight and let them get away with horrible job they have done for 40 years
You mean comm gets to keep 11 inch sea bass?

Not really looking to “prosper”. Just want a sea bass meal once in a while.

Why the constant reference to "jealousy"? Second or third time.

what you ignore is the fact the ASMFC decisions are not working but of course it always rec vs commercial and the only losers are fishermen and the winner biologist who never went on the water only there desktop

give up conservation equivalency and you could just remember the people on land have just as much right to a meal as you do if you chose to catch and release yours that is your choice while i agree with you that fish would be better as meal that is why i have been saying the ASMFC has done a horrible job in turning all fisheries on rec side into catch and release instead of letting people take home

Comm. Regs are a joke. Winter fishing on open bottom needs to be limited. Fish are exposed and become easy targets. This has been one of the worst scup seasons on the West end ever! But what's an even bigger joke is pots on a state funded reef site! Tax dollars should benefit all not just the pot guy who misrepresents what his targeted species is and makes sections of the reef unfishable!

I guess you guys are right its all the commercial fisherman fault no snappers no what were once called sand porgies yeah keep drinking the kool aid at least this one doesn't kill you

You and the kool aid line.......................

It is the TRUTH. I cannot take an 11 inch sea bass home to feed my family. A comm fisherman can. AND get paid.

Stop commercial fishing and watch how many species rebound in big numbers. I’m not saying it’s all commercial but I was fishing the ocean a few years back. The surface was full of floating sea bass and porgies that I guess wasn’t there target species. Commercial fishing has a huge impact on what’s going on with the decline of many species.

Look how close to the beach!

I circled the vessel, grabbed some shots, and that F/V jumped to full speed and headed directly south in a quick manner. Oh, and I guess far enough to then turn east. Hmmmmmmm
