Well-Known Angler
Sorry for the late report from this past Thursday’s half day Porgy Charter for my guys from NJ. Russell and his great “jazz musician” friends were out again to do their best to fill the coolers with tasty Scup.
While it is no secret that Porgy fishing this spring has been off compared to the past, with a steady chum line, the right tidal stage, and good anglers in the correct location there are still some quality fish to be caught. After about a 10 minute wait for the chum to take hold, we were treated to a slow but steady bite over the next 4 hours. Missy started us off with our first Weakfish of the season a nice 19” keeper. Then the Scup took over and with the occasional spurts of hot action by the end of the trip their coolers found about 25 nice fat Porgies per person resting on ice. Several were of the Jumbo 17-18” category as seen in the attached photo.
With June coming up and the Bas now in solid it will be a busy month for the Stiped Bass fans. Only a few weekend dates left but if you really favor Stripers try to book a weekday for the best action.
Hope to see you soon on the water!
