I had Jane and her family from central PA join me yesterday afternoon for their annual fishing trip. Originally the trip was scheduled for this coming Sunday and everyone was happy to be able to take advantage of yesterdays near summer like conditions.
We were treated to a great shot of Sea Bass fishing in the Sound for about 2 hours at the end of the flood tide. Started off drifting and Ryan strikes with a healthy 2.5# fish minutes after I gave the lines down call. His Mom, Jane, follows suit quickly with a keeper of her own. A few shorts were landed on subsequent drifts but the tide was still pushing a bit strongly. So, since we were the only boat in the entire area, I anchored on a high piece of structure and the crew proceeded to steadily add keepers to the box for the next 90 minutes. Aiden and Kira began to make their own contributions to the catch and eventually the team wound up putting 17 nice keepers in the box. Jane secured top honors of the day with a gorgeous 3# Sea Bass. Cruised back to port on flat water and handed them a fat bag of filets as they exited the boat just at Sunset. A fitting way to end the day!!
