The Cindy charter had originally requested a half day Fluking today but considering the very slow bite on the flatfish I encouraged them to set their sites on Weakfish instead. This proved to be the correct move as the group enjoyed very steady action for the first 2 hours of the trip. They boated their limit of 5 Weakfish up to 4 # within the first 60 minutes then played C&R returning another 12 fish over the next hour.
We did try several drifts for Fluke in all the usual haunts like the Greenlawns, East Marion, and Orient Harbor but only found 3 short fish and a ton of birds for our efforts on those drops. Added a couple of small Blues and 4 nice sized Scup to the box to top off the catch. By going with the flow, these folks went home with big smiles and some tasty Weakfish filets for dinner tonight.
With the new moon approaching this week Bass action will surely be heating up again. Give me a shout if you want to get out!
