I had a fun day on the Captree Pride chasing the rare, elusive, striped bass.
We broke the inlet, looked a bit to the east, then headed west towards Jones Inlet.
A slow pick all day and the captain gave it his all for a full boat limit. No extended, unproductive drifts.
The bass were gorging on half size bunker and peanuts except for slack tide. Diamond jigs caught very few fish. Large paddle tail shads on large jig heads worked best, in white, the bigger the profile the better.
I wish mine was bigger, heavier, and whiter.
High hook was about 15, some folks had none, I had 6, and everyone went home with a nice bag of fillets.
I feel like a kid every time I enter that parking lot in the dawn hours.
