After getting the Rhodan trolling motor back up and running on saturday afternoon, we went back out on sunday, breaking the inlet later than normal at 10am. We stayed on the LI side with the 10 kts SW wind that was supposed to pick up as the day progressed, and it did.
Incoming tide and 40 ft did the trick as we found the togs willing to bite. The action was more sporadic than weeks past, but we found keepers. A total of 9 fish came home with us. Tommy started off hot with 3 keepers in the first hour, but my son and I were able to catch up eventually, with all three of us catching a 19 inch tog each. The bite did slow down at high slack, and we couldn't get the bite really going even with the outgoing tide gaining strength. The trolling motor worked perfectly, allowing us to hit different spots trying to build the bite back up. We called it a day at 2pm. A few tiny togs came up also, but most fish were between 14-16 inches. Water temps were right at 50 degrees, which is telling me its just about over. We will try one more time if Mother Nature allows over coming holiday weekend.
