Got going in the boat this morning & headed for the Shinnecock Canal, with the boat thermometer reading 38 degrees, my coffee was already just warm. Broke the inlet & headed west, just a few scattered birds, finally life on the machine had spiny dogfish hitting the jig, got lucky & was able to shake four of them off with the dehooker. Turned east & found life, again just a few scattered birds, & life on the machine, 6 short bass released. A good day on the water, but not the results I was after, I may have hit the grounds a little late as the body of fish seem to be west. back to the blackfish.
