Crazy Good Deal on a Windows laptop...

We had to stop at Staples yesterday as Admiral had to make a "Happy Return" return for some Lands End clothes. To kill time I went over to the computers. I was looking for a very inexpensive computer to become my network distributed music system server. I was hoping to find one of those ≈$300 cubes that comes with nothing but Windows installed.

The cheapest thing there was one of the most powerful laptops in the store and it was on clearance!! At $399.99, this $800 Asus F1502Z Vivobook sports a 12 Gen i7 Intel CPU and 500 GB hard disk, and NO TOUCHSCREEN, which I personally despise. It was a little light on RAM with only 8 GB, but right now stands as the most powerful computer in the house!! Too bad it's being wasted in a very menial task, but I just don't have the energy to transfer all my software to it from another computer and set that one up as the music server. I had an Asus laptop like 16 years ago which was an "Open Box" deal from Worst Buy, and loved it too. Usually they're beyond my price point.

If you want a truly excellent laptop for anything other than advanced video/photo editing or serious gaming, get over to local Staples. The sale is "In Store on Available Inventory", but really worth it. The lady who helped me out started with the sales pitch, and I said, "No need I'll buy it" "Oh, so you know it's a good deal, the sale ticket went on it this AM and I already sold another , and only have 4 left, but make that 2. After you and I buy one!!"
