CTS Rod Owners

don't know anyone down your way that has CTS...BS are fast blanks not well suited for slow pitch
That is why I am here. NY started the revolution and I helping bring it to PA/NJ!

I am building a spinner for stripers/blues/etc. No slow pitch for me. I have jig rods for jigs. I am casting sand eels, swim shads, and lures mainly.

also if you build it ..CTS are not your standard blank & require a guide train different than other blanks...keep the guides as small as you can & first striper guide close to the reel seat..even on a spinner ..17" is a good place to start with a #25 LV spinner guide ..If your not jigging a K single foot works well..if you plan to jig & cast stay away from the K guide ..They kinda suck for jigging..

Thanks Richie. Appreciate the guidance. Is the GPS software a good starting point for placement if I am using the K guides? That is what I used for the BH that I built and I think it worked out ok (knocking on wood).

dont let any software or guide placement chart tell you where or how to set up a guide train..

How do they know what blank your using ,,OD of the blank action of the blank tip size or anything else..

the line needs to be as close to the blank as you can get it..on a spinner no need to worry about line touching the blank...The line needs to follow the natural arc / curve of the blank..no straight lines.. I use 9 to 11 guides on a CTS spinner,,

Good info, thanks. Yeah I know it is not gospel. I mocked it up using the software and then tweaked it from there. For a newbie it was a good starting point.

both Im not a fan of acid wrapped rods..CTS is such a high quality blank if built right it wont roll like other blanks do..No need to acid wrap em

standard wrapped rod,,west coat style or Ex Fast soft tip rods love to roll so the west coat guys acid wrap..poorly made blanks not cheap ..seen $$$ & $$$$ blanks that roll big time tend to factory acid wrap..It hides the flaw..

top quality blank are much more stable ...If you run the line through the center of the blank it wont roll...So the higher & the more off center the line becomes will cause roll....keeping the line as close to the blank without touching it and using small guides , following the natural curve of the blank will give you a stable rod..
I'm a true believer in not using guide rings larger than the OD of the blank or as close a you can get them...I never use a #20 striper or even a #16 ...go as small as the tip will let me #7 or #6 tips ..

that's the bend on a BJ701 on the 18lb tog..these blanks are little beast ''
the other bend picture is a 11lb tog on a BJ custom tog jigger it has a lighter tip than the standard BJ701 for jigs

the butt on these blanks is about the same as a No2 pencil or thinner ..
