Curse of Oak Island

Watched it once or twice and just hate the classic Discovery/History's Channel format of replaying the last minute or two after every commercial, which are too frequent. If they actually find anything more than "Dazzlers" I'll DVR it. When they find Jimmy Hoffa let me know...

I’ve been watching since season 1. They did find a lot of artifacts and a few coins. Saw the first episode of season 8 last night.

I remember reading that National Geographic article about oak island in my grammar school library and was interested ever since. I think I was in 4th grade at the time.

what are they interested with.?

The stored treasures of the Knights Templar or some pirates are rumored to be there in a booby-trapped vault...

IMO the only treasure there is the History Channel and Lagina brothers suckering folks to be engrossed in it, generating advertising and merchandise $$
I actually think there was something there.

Legend has it that 3 chests were discovered by 3 teenagers that lived in the area around 1795. One guy who was also living in the area at the time was a former slave name Samuel Ball that was from one of the original thirteen colonies. This guy won his freedom by fighting for the British during the Revolutionary War then moved up to Nova Scotia around Oak Island. He was originally a cabbage farmer, but died extremely wealthy and owned a bunch of land on Oak Island. If I had to guess I’d say he was part of the original 3 finders, if not the only finder. He probably stumbled upon something when he was planting and investigated further. He was afraid if he claimed it all it would be taken from him because of his background so he had a couple of front guys say they found it to legitimize the claim. Told there where they could find some treasure (probably placed by him) and saved the rest for himself.

@BennyV, I too was excited by previous reading of the original legends IF Sam Ball found anything, good for him. 8 seasons of Shakespeareian "Much Ado About Nothing" is more than enough. IF they found anything real and significant during the taping of 2020 that would have leaked already and we'd know about it. As they say, "the silence is deafening". This is getting to be as bizarre as shows like "My Big Fat Fabulous Life"...
