Deck/Fishing Boot

I am looking for a boot that is waterproof. My friend recommended Grundens deck-boss ankle boot.
Just looking for other recommendations.

Are these comfortable?

I have a couple pairs. The regular ankle and the sport ankle ones. You really need to try them on and find what "comfortable" means to you.

I can say that I have never slipped on a wet, bloody, or slimy deck while wearing them. I did not do so good that one icy day where I did not see the ice on the boat! Ouch. Overall, I am pleased with them.

I second the XtraTufs. I find they run a little tight for a given size. I’m a size 10 and I went with 11s. Nice fit and I can get a thicker sock in them for autumn wearing.

XtraTuf "regular" ankle boots - holding up very well, insoles are kind of thin but slip right out and I replaced with Dr. Scholl's Gellin ones

XtraTuf insulated Legacy boot - tall ones, again very durable, I consider them comfortable, especially in the fabric calf area

I use both of these around the house too. The ankle ones slip on real easy, so when it's time to clean up the backyard after the pooch, when the inevitable misstep happens, they hose off nicely :poop:;)

I'm surprised Grundens didn’t get mentioned.

I also found out the both Grundens and XtraTufs used to be made in USA and now made it China. Some reviews mentioned quality has slipped. Sizing seems to vary. I will try to fit someplace local to try them on first.

2 things I hate about Xtra Tuffs:
Neoprene shrinks in cold weather making the ankle area very narrow. (Even sliding a size 13 foot into a size 14 boot)

The soles are designed so at the end of a day you have a nice collection of clam, crab, etc stuck in the sole.

That said, with a quality insole, they are very comfortable.

I hear sketchers makes waterproof sneakers. I might try those this summer. Their slip-ons are great!

I have these 3 pairs. The Mucks i use in the fall if chilly. The Hiseas have a nice padding on the inside for the soles. Then the rugged sharks.
