Quick check shows California's State Welfare Budget is a whopping $37.1 billion. New York is a real wannabe in that department, "only" at $2.24 billion for NYS and $1.39 billion for NYC.

No Joe thats the list of the amt.of people per 100K on welfare per state..yes states with more people may have more ..but at a lower % rate ..these are the top ten per population ...If you only have 100 people living in your state ..the budget will be less..But if 4 our of ten are on welfare you rank in the top ten..
