To think that I grew up in Flushing and never knew of this fishery... swift current, live bunkers, really rough bottom, amazing views ... was a great experience. We had dozens up to 38"

I'd feel nervous with all those people looking out their windows at me and getting shot!
Pretty ignorant statement considering the real estate that borders the Queens and Manhattan waterfront are some of the most expensive in the world!

While the currents are similar to the east end, there are various wrecks that litter the river and can be fished at slack. There are also countless abandoned docks along the Queens and Brooklyn waterfront that are out of the currents, close to deeper water and hold plenty of fish.

I grew up in Astoria and fished the east end of the park countless times. There was even a warm water outflow from the coned plant that would support a population of holdover bass even during the coldest of winters similar to the Northport plant.

The days of being harassed by the crackheads are long gone.
