First keeper Fluke of the Year.

Headed out this morning with my younger son Charles who just got back from a nice Fla vacation, he bought 2 condos in Lake Worth Fla and wants me to help him remodel them, oy, like I don't have enough to do.

Left Milford Ct harbor around 7:30 am, our plan was to head to Madison Ct, my son Charles got a hot tip from a friend of his, so off we went.

Well we came around the tip of Milford point and it was a little sloppy so we decided to fish New Haven West wall, I just didn't want to get beat-up making the trip to Madison.
We started drifting outside the middle wall and it would bring us inside the west wall, we hooked up with short fluke on almost every drift, this was getting all to familiar so we moved east to the east wall, the drift was about 2.1 mph so I finally put that drift sock to work, it slowed us down to 1.5/1.7 which was manageable, more shorts and no keepers, around 11;30 it laid down enough so we decided to head to Madison, not knowing where in Madison we came upon a small fleet working just outside Madison inlet, we didn't know it but the boats were targeting porgy's and we started losing rigs.

Moving out a little farther we started to pick away at small Cbass, we were just 20 minutes away from Plum gut and I was tempted to give it a shot when my son notice a fleet of boats about a mile away on the Long Island side so we headed out towards them, the closer we got the more boats we saw, arriving just short of the fleet in 80 feet of water, I wasn't sure what they were fishing for.
I dropped my rig down with a 2 oz ball with gulp and a teaser, 5 minutes later I had my first keeper fluke, a nice 22 in specimen, unfortunately that was it, after that we had non stop action with cbass up to 18 inches, my son Charles caught a couple of short fuke in between the cbass action, we fished till 6:30 pm and made the hour plus ride back to the barn.

Total was 21 short fluke, 1 22 in keeper and 33 cbass all released, turned out to be a nice day after all.

So I will be headed up east from now on.
Tight Lines everyone.
