North wind at my back allowed easy long casts albeit with two wind knots. (Couldn't be cause this piker is using the same braid from 2018.) Both sides of the high, just a little sea lettuce, no sweep, 3 foot swells. Absolutely gorgeous on the beach and in shin deep water that had to be close to 70. Sandals, shorts and a tee shirt until the clouds rolled in. Plenty of something smallish semi-jumping and swirling every 5 minutes within easy casting distance. there was one thing missing--- predator fish on them or so I seemed to be proving in two straight hours. Tried a bunker finish rubber shad, a Kastmaster, a bucktail and a sand eel imitation, all with my bucktail hair teaser, all for naught. Will give it another try tomorrow afternoon. Walkers and sunbathers had me vastly outnumbered as I did not see anyone else fishing.

I know, but I already missed fishing off my kayak, lol. To me, the overall experience of fishing is what I strive for, fish are an extra, but if I can have sunny days, warm enough for shorts and sandals and hit the suds or paddle the yak ... Someone is bound to say now that I should move to Florida (and watch the ambulances cart away the blue hairs.) No thanks. I have the gear for cold weather kayakfishing as well as waders for the beach (hell, I hunt on my nuisance permit in January and February) but I don't fish at night or in the rain.

U and R7 gotta be kiddin me, PUBLIX supermarket has the best Fried Chicken... btw, MICKEY & MINNE live near a swamp... Florida has a 1000 miles of shorline, long Island has only 200... cellfish...

I haven't gone once this year off the beach. Hopefully I'll get out soon. I've yet to catch a fish from the beach lol. Then again I really don't go a lot.

Snap: Last couple of years I caught in the middle of the day, at low tide, at slack. Not a lot mind you, but if they are there, they are there. Its all about putting the time in. Sometimes I spend more time driving there and back then I did fishing when you could just tell nothing was happening. With me being the only one fishing yesterday, I knew my chances were minimal. I could have snagged bunker with ease yesterday, but I couldn't have livelined one with my light lamiglass.

I would love to know more about bunker being that close to the beach. :) No worries, I will fish at night so I will not be in your way!!! :)

it's a usually empty town beach (like anyone might guess which one) and the bunker (?) did not appear to be harassed much at all. Weren't large schools though and I was passing my whole bag right through where the swirls were for two hours with just some line bumps. Not a hit. An HVAC guy is coming by later so no fishing for me today. tomorrow and Saturday I expect some major Sam swells :(

You need something to rough up the bait and make it easier to get picked off! Never met a bass that did not like some big surf and white water! :)

Need to dispel this old wives tale about Florida blue hairs and dying

Florida’s population lives a much more active outdoor life than the northeast longer into life and for a much larger part of the year .

no one goes to Florida to die they go to live
Add 10 years to your life move south
