Fluke Whisperer
Angler
This report is for yesterday.
After working on the boat since April on and off with both my sons, the boat was ready last week but never got the chance to use it.
My younger son called me up this past Thursday and asked if we could go out this saturday, I said sure, he then proceeds to tell me that he wants to bring his wife and her sister Lin who just came in from Australia, Lin just happens to be a Dr and wanted to go fishing, I said sure, but make sure you tell the women that this is no luxury boat. lol
Dr Lin came in on the train to Milford @ 9am so my daughter in law picked her up, in the mean time we gain one more passenger my grandson Zac, so we load the boat up and head to the gas station to put gas in it, 125$ got us 26.2 gallons of gas, facepalm. After the shock wore off we headed to the ramp and put the boat in, I bought a new prop with a lower pitch and its aluminium.
Everyone showed up and off we went, we decided to head over to can 7 Port Jeff area, the motor ran great but sounded a lot different with the aluminum prop, don't know why.
We arrived around 11am and 10 minutes later I had my first fluke in the boat, about 16", then another same size and another, everyone was into fluke but no keepers yet.
We managed 25 fluke in about an hour then it died off, we had very little drift so I moved around alot.
Tide changed and we had a little better drift but no fluke, around 2 pm the wind changed and started blowing out of the south, we had a really good drift going and had to step up to heavier jigs.
A few more fluke were caught, my daughter in law caught an 18" fluke just 1/2 in shy of a keeper, we stayed till 4:30 pm and then headed in, Dr. Lin was telling me about the fishing in Australia.
I guess they have their problems and corruption too.
The ride back was uneventful, Dr LIn was having a hard time staying warm and awake because of the time difference.
So, it was a great day, I got to fish with my son whos birthday was Saturday , my grandson, daughter in-law and her sister.
Till next time,
Stay safe and Healthy.
