A friend of mine sent this pic he took while in Montauk last week. It looks like a tuna but it seems strange for this time of year. He estimated it to be 4-5 feet long.

It's a friggin small marine mammal, some sort cetacean, dolphin or porpoise... On a fish, the vertebral spines run up and down, vertically. On a cetacean, the spines run horizontally, laterally.

Redo ?? read that again Dom. "on a fish and on a fish" I know what u mean. :) Oh don't forget, on a Bluefin they run both ways. That's why you quarter them. :giggle:

Yeah, caught the typo before you posted on "fish" 2X. And yes, forgot about the tunoid quad spines... I actually posted mine almost simultaneously with yours.
