Fluke fishing

Today my father and I went fishing and the fishing was terrible. I had nothing and my dad had 3 shorts that didn’t get measured. We will target striped bass and blues until they are gone or wait till sea bass season starts. In four trips I have one short fluke and my dad has one keeper in four trips. It’s not worth targeting fluke at this point. Had fun talking to the crew and a few people that was it. My next trip is Monday on the fishfinder in Captree or simply go back to kissena park. Tight lines

I do spend alot of time with my dad. We went fishing 4 times this year. We did better at the shinnecock canal than on party boats. Had a keeper fluke 4 blues and blowfish to nothing on party boats just short fluke. I have been skunked twice on party boats. Only problem with the canal is the hour and half ride going at 2 plus hours coming home with traffic. Might have to consider taking the LIRR out there at least we can take a nap on the ride back.

Hampton Bays train station to the canal is a do-able walk but with gear may be tough with your dad

Not sure if there’s even sidewalks or not the whole way
Next time I swing by that way this week I’ll check it out for you
