Fluke later afternoon/evening bite?

As a person who has more available time to fish after work, I am wondering everyone's opinion on fluking towards the later part of the day. Like 4pm-8pm. I personally have not done much fluke fishing at this hour. Come to think of it....I have done no fluke fishing at this hour. If there are productive conditions before dusk, will the fluke bite just as well?

Of course! They also bite well at night. Used to spend all of June and part of July night-bellying the flats and worming the bridges for bass. Caught quite a few decent fluke, fishing that way. That was a long time ago . . .

the podcast mentioned that in the spring, when waters are colder, fishing later in the day and on the outgoing often brings warmer water out. But I like to be home for dinner, a swim, TV and the better half. I fish mornings. In addition, it seems for the last bunch of years, it gets windy as hell in the afternoons.

Day or Night doesn't matter. I cannot tell you how many times out chunking at night we've picked up doormats fishing on or around structure. Personally i think there is nothing sweeter than late afternoon drifting along any/all of the North Shore beaches. I truly enjoy it albeit I haven't done it in a few years.

I caught one on a eel while drifting for bass off of Block Island 11 pm at night, as a matter of fact several were caught that night, I was on the 7 B's that when several came up, on the sunset trips on the same boat, we did just as good if not better than the day trips.
Shinnecock bay when I use to fish there, produced a lot of fluke just before it got dark.
The big thing is that the fluke need to be there.
