Flutter spoon fun

So I fish out of Huntington and rarely post reports. I fluke fish 90% of the time and in my neck of the woods, there has not been any good fluking to report in recent years. So the rig has been sitting in her slip for a week waiting for a new water pump for the 6LPA. I kept hearing reports of good bass fishing at buoy15 and the triangle. The pump came in yesterday and I squeezed into the bilge to install it. It was a bitch of a job but it was done. Anyway, late this morning I went on my shakedown cruise and headed out to the triangle. I found a buddy picking fish just south of the OB at the beginning of the ebb. Using a 9" chartreuse flutter spoon I picked a slot fish on the first drift and boxed it. Next drift a big fat 42" girl was released. Drift after drift I had fish on. Four times I had two fish on a single drift. After I released fish number thirteen I said to myself 'the next drift that I don't pick a fish I will scoot over to Asharoken to jig a bucktail for fluke'. I picked another fish on the next eight drifts. I had 21 fish in two hours of fishing. All fish were in the present slot or better. I have been fishing this area for over 60 years and I have never seen bass fish this good so early. It was crazy stupid fishing. I never made it to Asharoken so no fluke report. If you fish this area and are into bassin you have to get out there as you know this won't last long. Chartreuse, Silver and a bunker look a like spoon all worked equally well. My buddy was picking fish dragging MoJos if that's your thing. I like the flutter spoon because YOU are applying the action and the heavier trolling gear is not needed. Have fun!!

Picked 11 slot fish this afternoon on the Flutter spoons again. Had to work for them as they were not stacked up tight like they were on Wednesday. I found a few here and a few there. I believe this group is headed east. These spoons are such an enjoyable way to fish.
