Mild Cool front moved in Thursday night and the fluke fishing was terrible Friday. Caught 1- 16 inch fluke. I didn't see anyone catch a fluke near me. Tried East of the Meadowbrook, in Jones Inlet and drifted East from Point Lookout over to the Construction Dock Area. Last 3 hours of incoming, Southwest Wind and used squid and smelt. 50 million birds diving on small baitfish. A Party Boat came out and fished the East side of the Jetty, if there was better fishing elsewhere they wouldn't move to where I was catching nothing. Just happy to be out there again. Purchased an almost new Nissan Frontier truck and returned a Nissan Frontier at Car Max , with all the wait times /not wanting to drive a car I was trading in fearing I'd have an accident , I wasn't able to get out much. And my outboard went into Safe mode 3 weeks ago. Turned out to be a false alarm and the engine worked good on Friday. It really blew hard in the morning, felt like it was early October. I bet the fluking was real good on Thursday before the cool front. 3 trips this year and just 1 Fluke and 1 Bluefish. That's the way it is with boating, just like that you can't go out because of mechanical problems that take weeks to fix. I'm at a point now where I only go out when it's incoming tide , if the motor goes into safe mode I can at least motor back to the dock 2 or 3 knots. My Marine mechanic did an awful job fixing my outboard. Bought an Evinrude Etec Diagnostic Kit and finally got it working. Showed the Mechanic billed me for something he never did , said the Crankshaft Position Sensor had shorted, according to my Diagnostic Kit there was no record of that Sensor shorting out. I highly recommend buying an Outboard Motor Diagnostic Kit for your outboard. It levels the playing field. Those Evinrude Mechanics aren't on every street corner like Auto Mechanics, what a relief not being at their mercy anymore.
