FYI - National Weather Service now breaks up LIS east into two zones.

This is good news, as previously the forecast covered everything east of Port Jeff as one mass of water, when anyone who boats out east near the point knows how drastically the wind can change by Plum Island, even on calm days. Per the NWS:

On or about Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at 09:00 AM Eastern Standard Time (EDT), 1400 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), the NWS Weather Forecast Office in New York, NY (OKX) will split marine zone ANZ330, the Long Island Sound East of New Haven CT/Port Jefferson NY, into two marine zones using a line from the mouth of the Connecticut River to Orient Point, NY.

The new zone, ANZ332 shown below:

Obviously there are many weather models we can follow currently and many are far more accurate and reliable than the standard NOAA marine forecast. Still, I listen to the NOAA broadcasts every day as a means of corroborating the data I hear/see in other projections.
So, I was pleasantly surprised to hear the new breakdown of the eastern LI Sound region. Since I have fished this area for over 50 years I can tell you without a doubt there is a significant difference in conditions within the old "Eastern LI Sound" region where they previously lumped everything together for a stretch of about 40 + miles. NOAA finally does something right...Hooray!
