Gas prices 2019 and beyond

Am I missing something here? The NY State gas tax was suspended on Wednesday and will remain suspended for the rest of the year. But in driving around Long Island yesterday and today, it seems that, if anything, gas prices have gone up. This doesn't seem logical. Call me suspicious but I'm wondering if the gas station owners are no longer paying the tax to NY but instead are pocketing it. Someone please tell me what I'm missing.

Went down and up I paid $4.89 tonight

The thing is, it was $4.89 on Tuesday. The tax was eliminated on Wednesday. It's still $4.89. In fact I passed a Mobil station on Sunrise and it was $4.99. It just seems fishy to me.
I paid $4.74 Wednesday night was $4.99 prior to that same place tonight it was $4.89 same place it went down and right back up

It went up because oil and gas on the commodities market went up. It's a globally priced commodity....it is not determined by the U.S.......The producers in this country follow market prices.

So the market controls the price......Oil bought this morning at $150/barrel, ships to refinery/,ships to gas station in 24hrs? ?

This morning. Very sobering. Highest price yet!

usually when there is a spike in oil they raise the price within 24-48 hours. It's how it is...the oil and gas companies got it like that.....they control the oil produced in this country but instead of selling it to us cheaper like the Saudis and Venezuela did with their people, they follow global market prices and screw us...that's why I have energy investments too...I like to get in on a good gang bang :)
