HEART

TALK,
as most here know , i’m concerned about healthy thoughts wit nutrition in mind… to begin, in 2015 just before turning 60 I was interested to understand my cardiology health knowing how important the consequences would be of a sick heart in addition to family history…
so at the time, my Cardiologist Dr.W., did some test and suggested Lipitor ( statin to reduce cholesterol ) even though my total cholesterol was borderline high - 200mg… he suggested the south beach diet as well, ( useless )…
sometime after , i disconnected from Dr. W., and sought Dr.S. who turned out to be as i look back, a pill pusher… his prescription of Crestor 20mg was damaging, as many know Crestor and Lipitor ( statin ) cause heavy side effects… muscle & tendon strains. Eventually I dumped Dr.S., all the while struggling to get my cholesterol down with balanced diet, the pyramid…
A few years from the start, I met Dr.A., who suggested something more of a natural herb supplement which hardly made a dent in total, all the while taking note of my blood test results…
with a few years of working with Dr.A., her retirement at hand and so i’m on the look for a fresh Cardiologist 8 years after my initial journey..
in the picture now is Dr.2., who started the routine cardiology test in April and in this process, a bit of a scare set in… in 8 years reaching 67 now, things have degraded enough to dig deep…
yes i’m saying to myself, I eat beef & pork at a minimum, usually lots of vegetables, beans, eggs and dairy as the primary protein and so on… fruit and fiber could be more often… junk food is out, processed foods & meats is out, unhealthy snacks occasionally (potatoes chips) sugars are so, so…
so what is the most obvious problem in my diet causing these high numbers.?Ideal Total is -150mg and 50’s for LDL, all of my other numbers were very good except for the LDL…
so here i am now , a late April blood test of 208mg total, with a prescription for 10mg of Lipitor ( i hear 10mg is minimal ) I stopped eating all “dairy and eggs”.. the beef and pork is not in the equation at all, but sardines, fish and some chicken is… olive oils are reduced a good amount as well…
surprisingly, a second blood test results from 2 weeks ago , in less than a five week period, the total dropped like a rocket to 123, that’s nearly a 45% drop as with the others, LDL, and Triglycerides OUTSTANDING…
because I was always conscious bout good , simple eats, it wasn’t hard to disconnect from the eggs, dairy and oils that was causing the problem… eating more greens & beans is ok for me, it’s delicious…
i’m heading for a plant based diet , meaning much, much less of the obvious and more of plant based… it’s all good…
hope we can keep this discussion going… cellfish aka michael…
