Mornin folks !!

Roccus, is that temp. right ?? 38.3 It's 25.1 here.

Might be a little inflated since the gauge is sitting in the sun so it may have some infrared influence, but it's also < 100 yds from the 40 degree Gulf. It's 26.2 °F here also. I want it to get up into the low 40s so I finish up my boat waxing.

Well just check the temp down there and when it's 40 go for it. Who the hell puts a thermometer in the sun ? Oh and who the hell waxes their boat in Maine ? ;)

JK, she deserves it.

That's the problem with those "All in One" weather stations including a wind speed gauge, they have to be in an open area. At Chez Roccus we have 2 outdoor temp gauges, one on the east side and one on the west. Right now the east facing one says 29.3 °F and climbing fast since the sun is coming up and warming the deck below it, while the western one, which is shaded, says 27.5 °F, so that's the most accurate temp here at 11:05 GMT on April 12, 2020...

The yearly waxing is a debatable ritual. Every time I start doing it, I ask myself why, but when I'm finished I realize it was the right thing to do, especially since the only fresh water wash she sees once launched is a rain storm. It's also a job of "realization" split between "Wow, this hull's gel coat work is really good", which it is, easily the nicest hull I've ever had, and "Feck Dom, HTF did you get that scratch??? Oh yeah, that was the time I screwed up by.."

Thermometer should always be on the NW side on lighthouses. (In the Northern hemisphere.) :p

True 'dat, but the Pemaquid Point Association owns the Weather Station which is mounted on Bristol Township land just about due South, and the USCG owns the tower.

I was tempted the other day to play with the station as it's mounted on a small mast on the grounds. I wanted to go over to the station and give the anemometer's vanes a quick spin.. ? ??

Of course doing that might cause someone with nothing better to do to post about a horrible wind storm at Pemaquid Point...

WOW you have 3 groups to try to get your point across. About being on the East side the only time it would read right is after 15:00, During a Nor Easter and at night !!. :giggle:

Sorry for the Derail. :p
