Good Morning Everyone.

Some tyrannical boss' idea of how to end a coffee break ? Children's story book ? Got the wife in on this too as she is a total Disney freak !

Nope and no. Surprised SWMBO didn't get it, true animation aficionados would get it immediately (BIG HINT) . I'll reveal tomorrow AM...

The holes were used to line up the individual pages (thousands of pages) while they were being drawn and then photographed, to keep them accurately lined up. Your hint gave it away.

:)

DING, DING, DING!! We have a winner!!!

I figured SOMEBODY would pick up on that hint and figure out they were alignment holes. I collect cartoon production cels and yup, those are the holes; it's so cool scrolling through a cartoon and stopping it at the cel that's on your wall.

See 1:30 and 3:54 for detail on alignment holes in the video below...

The Little Mermaid was the last Disney movie made using hand-painted cels. I have a couple of those, lots from Peter Pan, and a good amount of Warner Brothers, but my most prized piece of animation art is a layout sketch of Elmer as Sigfried during the "Oh Bwune Hilda" love scene w/Bugs in the penultimate achievement of animation excellence, What's Opera Doc.

Looks like the Maine contingent is the only group stirring, Good Morning Mud & the rest of our Bilge Rat colleagues at NYA. Looks nice out there today, but a bit nippy. Going to load up the boat today, battle w/Garmin over with less than satisfactory results, but everything is well. STAY SAFE and have a great day!!
