Kind of a Big Deal - In My Mind Anyway

The subject of soaking plastic/PVC baits, such as Z-Man and the like in GULP! juice has come up a couple of times in the past two seasons. My experience with this subject was discussed at length in this thread, using the 6" jigging grubs from the "Worm Bar Lady" that we have all seen at the various fishing expositions :

It really is too bad, because it would save us all some major dinero every Summer. But alas, there still appears to be no good substitute for the real thing. For the first time that I've seen, here's a video that graphically proves just how good the GULP! body composition is at releasing the juice:

I found this video quite illuminating. . .

I have had some non-Gulp plastics stewing with my Gulp for several years. While I caught mainly weaks and not fluke this past summer, I did have the non-Gulp plastics catch fish, but it could be more from the motion imparted by jigging than from the scent. Being a piker, I really was doing it in June when the occasional bluefish or cocktail would decimate my much more expensive Gulp population.
However, I also believe the softer baits from the Gulp Alive containers attract better than the Gulps from bags. Not surprised by the video.

Here's John Skinner's more comprehensive test and conclusions - just posted on Youtube:

Interesting test. So are we to conclude packaged gulp holds it's scent longer than those that come in jars?

What I did learn is that my little 50 yard, 5 minute drifts on the kayak do not wash out the Gulp scent as quickly as I thought.
