Has Hell Frozen Over Down There???

I'm reading fishing reports and I think I've now seen it all, with this omen of "End of Days", party boats reporting how many sea robins they've caught on a trip.

I know that fishing is tough, especially LIS, but is it really so bad that that the sea robin count is an enticement for party boat fares??

No matter how bad it is, there's nothing like spending time on the LIS. Hopefully this is an anomaly or another change in the fishery. Either way I'm not about to give up the sound yet.

I will comment that there are not many boats out these days. It reminds of the gas shortage times.

yes saw very few boats fishing the west passage of narragansett bay, on sunday, wow usually fluke fisherman are all over on a summer weekend, word must have spread that the fishing is slow

Only for googans like you.

This is cyclical. That’s all. Every year can’t be a banner year. It doesn’t work like that.

Fluke mysteriously moved back into the area we fish. So guess what. Bye bye porgy and hello fluke.

as my name indicates, I usually only fish SE Nassau, and when on a boat (which is rare and not a kayak), I do venture to Jones Inlet (inside.) Last year besides snappers for the air fryer or barbecue, I brought home a total of 2 fluke. Two ! This year I already brought home 3, along with 5 weaks and 3 blues. (But not a single fluke since mid June.) I am actually happy with this since 2018 for me was so bad. As for water temps, I can't even cool off my tootsies off the kayak ! Only went out on the boat twice so far so although no keepers with buddy or wife, I really can't comment but I think Benny V is correct about cycles.

............... it was actually last week. Caught on a porgy rig , Celtic Quest. 10lbs 2oz.
