I've have used a cane on the subway a few times when recovering from an injury. Folks are much nicer to you, more respectful of your personal space, and if you grimace enough, will offer you a seat!i’m using this cane wen i need to ride the subway… my Urologist asked what’s the cane for i can’t remember you with a cane… i said for protection on the subway…
i just checked his summary, he put the Cane in his notes… lol ?

amazing how the metal whatever it may be, endured the wearing of the many thousands foot steps over the decades… if it were BRASS alone surely it would have worn out… remarkable…Very cool, I remember them in the vestibule and basements of some old buildings as wells
People made things back then with pride and engineers were not limited to using what was only allowed to be provided ,they decided what to use for all the right reasons. Now things are made to break , be cheap with the idea of being replaced within 5-15 Years tops.amazing how the metal whatever it may be, endured the wearing of the many thousands foot steps over the decades… if it were BRASS alone surely it would have worn out… remarkable…
some steel sidewalks plates have significant wear… cellfish…

"Below here lies the remains of 14 Nuns who died from the Black Plague in 1300 something".
I moved off of that spot preety darn quickly.
