i’ve used up most of the zip ties i borrowed from MTA several years ago before retirement, i never knew how easy these ties are available outside the shop… home depot prices, could be better…

knowing bass aren’t around, i gave this non circle 9/0 hook a try… i usually use em in florida, so this Big Blue had Tonsil Hooked the bait, steel leader protected the cut off… boy bluefish do have impressive dentures…

i’d rather use Circles Hooks from now on, easier to dislodge… cellfish…

You have to bleed them when they're alive!! I rip the gills out and toss them in a 5 gallon bucket 1/2 filled with seawater to let them bleed out while they're "breathing" so the heart is beating, pumping the blood out. A slash across the flesh just on each side of the tail doesn't hurt either.

well, his head came off while it was alive, then it was tail hung until time to leave.. would ya believe wen going for the hook, it tried to snip me 2x while it was disconnected from the other half… fun time… C22…

This is mine. “Old Hickory”. Carbon steel knife changes color during each use. Pop in 150 degree oven to dry.

Head off, guts out asap.
one of my friends used to do it it two whacks And one slice.

I thought he was nuts but it really made a difference.
I would cook them on a bbq same day and people enjoying the finished fish would not even believe me that it was bluefish, I remember them saying over and over “ I don’t eat bluefish” I’d say “ you do now”
