Made it back upstate for the last trip of the season, pretty much the same as the weekend before hens are lazy and roosters are running and not flying making for a tough hunt we did manage 14 pheasant and 1 chucker that we stubbled across overall a great day with friends. Time to pack the hunting bin up in the attic till next year, maybe this weekend start cleaning the rods and tackle box. Stay safe everyone

Went out East in that cold and wind yesterday on my nuisance deer permit. Could only take 7 hours and quit. Going to try again tomorrow. They really go nocturnal after the rut, especially on this permit where theoretically (and by some) they are hunted 24/7/365. I saw a few sets of tracks in the snow but they probably left them well before I arrived and if in the sun, were melted when I left. With ticks returning soon my March hunting days are numbered. Decided I will sell the boat this spring, maybe after one last fluke trip in early May before I paddle more comfortably in trunks and a tank top.

Good luck hopefully you knock one down and totally understand the tick situation, we kicked up a few deer chasing those pheasant around, and there were plenty of tracks around, I’m ready for some bucktailing

Possibly the nicest weather i have ever hunted in. Self check found no ticks and i am actually scheduled tomorrow morning for whole body check at dermatologist. I get scolded annually for enjoying the sun sans lotions

Your not alone I get scolded for that and every time I get the eyes checked I’m told I need to wear the sun glasses on the water

Although if i get cataracts and get the surgery i might be able to ditch the bifocals i have had for almost 30 years
