Gave the tog another chance on Sunday. Waited out the rain and broke the inlet @10:30 and was rudely greeted with 2-4 tight chop.
Scrapped my plans to head across to the CT side when I couldn’t make more than 10 kts without slamming hard. Plan B was a close area around Eatons.
Found a nice spot and deployed the Rhodan which surprisingly held the three of us in the gusty NW 15-25 winds. As soon as the Cow Harbor BnT green crabs went down they was life. Started out with a few small fish and porgies but Tom got us on the board with a healthy 18 inch tog that had us glad we went out.
The trolling motor was keeping us in the spot despite coming out of the water with the occasional 5 foot roller, and we picked away at shorts and keepers for three hours…calling it a day when we limited out with togs to 20 Inches.
Had fun riding the waves back to the ramp and had the DEC survey check out the catch and takes some details of our day.
Caught fish in 35 ft and water temps were 58 degrees….rigs out fished jigs in the sloppy sound today, but jigs still managed 2 keepers.
Hoping for another shot next weekend.

Nice Drew, we went out saturday, got halfway to middle ground and turned around, small bass were chasing bait close to shore so we chased them around for awhile, although we did not hook up we did see a couple of fish caught. We fished for tog on a piece we found off of Milford point, looked promising but the wind kept blowing us off the rock pile, it was supposed to be 1 foot or less, I keep falling for that lol. still have a few more weeks left, water temp was 61 degrees on sat.
I'm sure with this cold we have now it will drop fast. Sunday we were supposed to go target shooting but my younger son Charles had to bring his son Zac back to Westconn up in Danbury ct.
This wind/weather has been crazy for sure.
This weekend is a little iffy, might give it a shot on Sunday.
Stay safe and Healthy..
