Got out Friday after work with my daughter and a couple of buddies. At the ramp @ 5pm.

Drifted for fluke around Ashroken. Tried 4 spots up to and around Eatons and only found sea robins. Switched it up around slack tide and trolled mojos up to 11B, nothing doing for us or anyone else it seemed.

Set up so chunk as the sun set. A couple more sea robins harrassed our baits on the bottom. Once the water started to push, and we heard some bunker splashing around it was game on. Ally started the party with an absolute moo cow slob that measured over 45 inches. Wasn't sure what it was with a light pick up and no screaming run, but once the fish realized it was hooked, the fight was on. While swimming the fish boatside to revive before releasing, the other rods went off. A little madness and out of practice rust for us as we tangled with the other lines in the water and later the outdrive, but two other 40 inchers came to the net. One other 38 incher as well as a 29" fell for chunks.

The striper season has started early, and is in full swing.

Great report Drew, I was out last Saturday with John Halkias on his 32 foot Sea Vee, I entered a subscriber free trip with Just Fishing Charters, my name was randomly chosen, it will be on youtube eventually, look for Jigging Jerks.
I had a great time, we caught stripers, weakfish, and fluke, with just one keeper fluke and it wasn't me lol
I did do battle with a nice 10'lb plus blue on a very light rod and 10lb test.
The weaks were solid but unfortunately the blues have been ripping them up.
I want to say that John was such a gracious host and if I could, I would move to Greenport in a heartbeat.
My boat is on the back burner for now, it's getting a new paint job and some tlc, should be in by June.
I traded in my 22 challenger for a 23 Dodge 1500 ram Built to Serve pickup truck, I'm putting my 05 Tundra on the market.
Stay Healthy and Safe,
Jay
