Just another Wednesday at work, took a few minutes to go outside in the early afternoon to enjoy the beautiful warm weather and stare at the barely moving treetops. The owner of the company catches me outside and says “Wow, what a great day, we should go fishing!”
Ok boss, you say the word we can be floating in an hour. After a little arm twisting and clearing the last of his schedule, we met at the ramp and motored out on the flat calm Sound @3 pm.
After a quick tutorial on how to hook crabs, we were into fish. After the first round of shorties, I came tight to a nice fighting male at 16 1/2 inches, that made the boss really start to concentrate on his lines cause he loved watching the fight. Plenty of 14-15 inch fish came up over the next hour but finally he got tight to one that didn’t want to come up. He really enjoyed the fight and drag pulls but he bested the 17 inch male as I slipped the net under and thumped him on the deck.
We fished until 5 pm, and had a great time talking about everything except work. At the ramp he really appreciated the afternoon on the water and said he rarely gets a chance to get some hydrotherapy in. I took care of the catch later at home and gave him the vacuum sealed fish this AM, as I mentioned we have another blue bird day ahead of us….lets see if I can twist that arm again.
