Hunting and Trapping Newsletter
IMHO, and acknowledging that the china virus forced the change, this is the way it should be. The DEC instructors, all volunteers, work hard to provide an excellent learning environment and proctor the test at the end. Granted, anyone getting a score of less than 95% on the in person classroom test on the final day should probably not be allowed afield and definitely not with a firearm, but allowing an open book test is a farce. Fortunately I was present for excellent instruction years ago for both Hunter Safety and Bow Hunting Safety courses. I liken this online nonsense to taking the 16 hour Defensive Driving Course online every three years. 'Fess up, who actually reads the driving sections and not just opens up another "window" and checks one's email, other websites, etc. until the time allotted is up and one answers the quiz questions? Do I still attend in person DDC? Hell, no, but as a certified High School Driver Education instructor I consider myself a cut above anyway, lol.
Now when in hell is NY going to finally require blaze orange ??
