Subject: MS Harbor Updates

Good afternoon,

A few updates regarding MS Harbor and Cedar Beach.

  • Town of Brookhaven Kayak and Dinghy Slip permits for 2020 are suspended, and will not be issued until further notice. (They were supposed to start issuing tomorrow)
  • I am sure you all know Ceder Beach is closed until further notice
  • As per NYS no recreational boating at least until 5/15
  • The good news, the MS Harbor Jetty Reconstruction work is largely completed.
I will send more updates an information becomes available.

Thanks,

Mark Hegreness

while I can not be certain, Town of OYster Bay might not have closed its ramps at all. could be a LEO thing though.

Regarding the Town of Brookhaven, a friend mentioned you can use the boat launch, just can't use the slip.

I will try to get down to Cedar Beach and see if you can get in. I guess I can always use Port Jefferson.

I have to drop off some groceries down by city island for an older family friend. I’ll see if I have any intel on private marinas and tackle shops in my travels.

Ramp in Huntington (Mill Dam) and Cold Spring Harbor are open. Northports Soundview Ramp(Stacks, LIPA, LILCO, I I I I) is still closed.

Don't they make you do that all the time anyway??;)
I’m sorry, I meant to type...

Attention Slipholders,

I am pleased to announce that the NYS Executive Order has been updated and we may now open the City of Rye Boat Basin for personal use. The update makes clear that no gatherings of any kind are permitted and that social distancing and sanitization protocols are to be strictly abided.

In addition the The City of Rye has directed all those who visit the Boat Basin to adhere to the following guidelines which are in place to keep the staff and your fellow slip holders safe:

• First and foremost – if you are infected with the virus or self-quarantining due to exposure to the virus you must not visit the Boat Basin.
• You must limit the people aboard your vessel to those you share your home with, period – no guests.
• Maintain safe distances from others while at the Marina, including when working with others to maneuver or secure your vessel.
• When boarding your vessel for the first time you should thoroughly clean and sanitize your vessel with EPA-approved sanitizing agents.
• After doing anything that requires touching an item someone else may have touched, like a gate lock or railing down the ramp, disinfect by washing your hands or using a hand sanitizer as soon as possible.
• Try to plan to go from your car to your boat and your boat to your car. Try to pack your gear and supplies ahead of time and avoid making unnecessary stops along the way.

Ultimately, these responses are in place to try and keep people safe. All slip holders will be expected to adhere to these temporary directives. Failing to abide by these directions may result in a suspension of an individual’s access to the boat basin. Should you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to the Boat Basin staff.

The Marina will officially reopen beginning tomorrow at 8:00 am subject to the above restrictions. According to the Executive Order, chartered watercraft services or rentals are not allowed to resume. During this evolving situation if there are any changes to protocols we will update our slip holders as necessary.?

That town letter went out hours before the state opened up marinas. Mt Sinai town docks dont open up until 2nd week of May anyways but the ramp is open.
